Benefits of Salah (Solat)

Assalamu'alaikum Wr Wb!

Alhamdulillah. How are you my readers?? Insya'Allah All of you are blessed by Allah with health and happiness. Amin. Alhamdulillah, today, I have the opportunity to share about the benefits of Salah (Solat) as promised in my previous post. I'm truly sorry to those who have waited quite a long time for this =D. I was really really busy with school. Alright, I did some reading on the net and from books. Alhamdulillah, I manage to find plenty of reminders for myself and in fact, some of the benefits that I just know of. Below are some of my reflections and what I've read about.

Question:
Why is Salah (Solat) a benefit????

Answer:
Salah is a guardian, a shield that protects you from the evil of the world and gives your soul comfort as it knows you are preparing for it's final abode and resting place.

I have to admit that in my early teenage years, I performed Salah just for the sake of doing it or because my mother told me to. I didnt understood how Salah can help me and at times, I followed dunya and neglect Salah.

And the outcome?

I got easily stressed, mixed up and lost in the dark, I became easily ill, easily angry, easily depressed and constantly felt confused and felt useless. It was scary but Alhamdulillah, Allah helped me and I began to learn the beauty of Salah and Salah brought me back!! Subhanallah.

AND I HAVE A STORY TO SHARE! :D

When I read about the Salah of the Sahabas (Companions of Rasulullah [p.b.u.h]), I feel mesmerized. Subhanallah, their love for Allah s.w.t was at the maximal and it can be shown from their Salah.

I read a book which state, "The Sahabas would take any opportunity to perform Salah because they love Allah and they MISS facing and praising Allah S.W.T" Masya'Allah, I am very far from this and I'm sure all of us would want to achieve this stage of Salah because the niat of the Sahabas to perform Salah is not because its a MUST or it's a cure to the heart but because they MISS Allah! Subhanallah.

So the short story I want to share is about Sayidina Ali (r.a). There was a time when an arrow pierced his calf. In order to remove it, he performed Salah. His Salah was full of khusyu' and ultimate focus that he didnt feel a single pain or sting! when one of his companions pulled the arrow from his calf. Masya'Allah. I'm touched by this story. His level of focus and khusyu' in Salah is so high and his love for Allah is so deep that nothing! not even pain or the whispers of Shaytan! can distract his prayers. Subhanallah.

My readers, I want to continue to write more about what I've read but it might bore you. However, have no fear! :D. Alhamdulillah, I found some videos which includes the information that I wanted to write. So below are the videos, do view them. I love the videos. Insya'Allah you'll like 'em and would learn from them too. Amin!

Beautiful Doa

Assalamu'alaikum Wr Wb!

I found this beautiful doa on youtube. The Meaning is sooo deeeeep. Subhanallah!

Oh God, we ask you by every name you have
By every name that you given to yourself
And by every name you have sent us in your Book
And by every name you have taught to your creation
And by any name that no one knows except for you

To attach the Glorious Arabic Qur'an to our hearts
And make it radiate in our chests
And have it end our sadness
And make it take away our distress

Oh God, you alone know the weight of mountains
And you alone can grasp the dimensions of the oceans
And you alone know the number of raindrops
And you alone know the number of leaves (trees)
And you alone know the number of nights and number of days through time

Oh Lord of the universe

Next post on Beauty of Solat coming up! Still reading a book on it and doing research. Salaam! Barakallahu Feek.

2nd January 2010 (18 years)

Assalamu'alaikum Wr Wb!

According to the gregorian calendar, I am 18 years old today. Alhamdulillah. I'm thankful to Allah to be given the opportunity to live on this earth for 18 years already. I reflected upon my birthday and I thought of this, "So what if I'm 18?" That also equals to 18 years of sin I've committed. Astarghfirullah. Insya'Allah, this will be the turning point of my life for the better and all I would ask from Allah is not to lengthen my lifespan or panjangkan umur but to ask for forgiveness for the sins I committed for the past 18 years coz one thing to remember my beloved readers, one year older also equates to one year closer to the grave. Subhanallah. And yea, for those who are reading this, when your birthday comes, DON'T forget to thank both of your parents for raising you up for years, sacrificing for you. Masya'Allah. Oh ya! I want to share somethings that brightened up my birthday with all of you . Alhamdulillah. One hadith and One video. Take a look!

Which means: The Prophet s.a.w narrated from Allah s.w.t. that Allah s.w.t. said “If my servant comes close to me an inch, I will come close to him more than that. And if he comes close to me a foot, I will come much closer to him. If he walks to me, I will run to him.

(Hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari)

We are in the 15th Day of Muharram and the 1st Day of the Gregorian Calendar. We are early into both calenders and I know that everyone wants this year to be better than last year's. I want that too and Insya'Allah Allah will grant us that. Amin. Anyway, as the new year begins both for 1431 and 2010, I have a video to share with you brothers and sisters. Hope you like it. =)
