Akhlak

Assalamu'alaikum my brothers and sisters in Islam!

Ok. I've noticed that my blog posts are abit err...rigid. Haha. So I shall change the style I blog now! I shall come up with a topic or any topic my friends want to discuss and I'll blog about it! Insya'Allah.

But brothers and sisters, I am no Muslim Scholar...so! the posts that I write act only as a reminder to MYSELF and to my readers that are blessed by Allah s.w.t. Only Allah knows how many read this blog. Haha BUT that is not important! The important thing is we Muslims can share with each other and help each other and the things I write on my posts are the Words of Allah, Teachings of Rasulullah and Reminders by Muslim scholars like Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jailani. So..Insya'Allah it will help us in living our lives as Muslims in this World which is only TEMPORARY and achieve success in the hereafter. Amin! =)

Today! I've decided to post something about Akhlak.

What is Akhlak???

From my understanding...Akhlak can be understood as "ethics and morals" if translated from Arabic itself.

Err..ok..so?? how is Akhlak relevant to us as Muslims???

Basically, Akhlak is a fundemental that we need as Muslims! Ok..i shall not go into much detail. I'll just give an overview. Imagine us, an individual as a TREE. Akhlak is our kindness, our attitude, our morals and they are like the Fruits that grow from a Tree. So we are a tree and our fruits are our akhlak. Hence, of course we want to look as attractive as possible right?? Who likes to see a tree thats all dried up?? Therefore we must have proper akhlak to beautify us spritually and beautify our identity! Before I go back to this analogy I shall explain about two main roots of Akhlak..which is Traits of Mahmudah and Traits of Mazmumah.

Huh? What's this Mahmudah and Mazmumah???

Well...Mahmudah are traits that are respected and praiseworthy! and some examples of this character or traits are below:

a) honest
b) sincere
c) trustworthy
d) judging well (having only good thoughts about a person)
e) forgiving
f) generous
g) syukur (thankful and show gratitude to Allah)
h) tolerance
i) patience
j) redha and tawakkal
k) brave
l) gentle and kind
m) caring
n) helpful
o) always thinking of the hereafter
p) AND MANY OTHER GOOD ATTRIBUTES!

And Mazmumah on the other hand are traits or attributes that are shameful and bad. Some of them are below:

a) Arrogance, Boastfulness, Cocky, Egoistic etc. or anything that is equivalent to the terms (riyak, ujub, takabur)
b) high forms of envy (dengki)
c) anger
d) revengeful
e) judging bad about others
f) stingy
g) materialstic
h) obsessed with dunya (this world) and not think of the hereafter
i) believe me, THERE IS MORE! I know that you all know

So what about these two attributes??? what about Mahmudah and Mazmumah??

So here it is, as Muslims we must have ONLY traits of Mahmudah. We must reflect and if we still find there is still traits of Mazmumah that are existing in us...what are you waiting for?? Quick go get rid of it! Insya'Allah it won't be difficult to get rid of Mazmumah and it will be easy to achieve Mahmudah. So now I shall get back to my anology. A person having traits of Mahmudah or traits as such are like a tree that is beautified with fruits and Masya'Allah the tree is so distinctive and likeable that people cannot hate it and would want to get a fruit from the tree. That is how WE MUSLIMS are suppose to be. Our Akhlak has to be at top form so that people like us and not hate us as Individuals or as an ummah. Our Akhlak can impact people and actually attract them to Islam. Islam is a beautiful religion who teaches peace and beautiful concepts. Rasulullah P.B.U.H owns the best form of Akhlak! Masya'Allah and even Sayiditina Aisyah mentioned that Rasulullah P.B.U.H has the Akhlak of Al-Qur'an because He is perfect in so many ways and He is loved and likeable by so many including the non-muslims who knew him. Look at Abu Sufyan who hated him but in the end accepted Islam. It is Rasulullah's beautiful Akhlak that attract the attention and hearts of many. Subhanallah.

So I'm here to remind myself and my brothers and sisters in Islam that being a Muslim is not just an honour, its a RESPONSIBILITY. Islam teaches Peace and Rasulullah's akhlak is an example to follow. Rasulullah displays beautiful attributes and teaches us alot about Akhlak. So! we must make sure that as Muslims, we are suppose to be examples and show Islam thru our ACTIONS Insya'Allah. NOT JUST OUR WORDS. Because Actions, SPEAK WAY LOUDER than words. May Allah Bless All of You. =)

Barakallahufeek. Peace be upon All,
Nabil
